Christopher Massey
Christopher Massey plays the cool, calm, and collected Michael on the Nickelodeon hit Zoey 101. Charming and mature, Chris still finds time to be a goofy kid and laugh it up. We caught up with him between one of his busy work days.
The Star Scoop:
What are you up to these days?Christopher Massey:
I'm still filming Zoey 101, and we are on our 8th episode. We have 26 episodes this season, so we have a long way to go. So we'll be filming, I think, until January. We're working a lot, a lot. It's 105 degrees. The Star Scoop:
What do you think makes Zoey 101 different from other kids' shows?Massey:
I think a lot of shows, sometimes kids can relate to them, sometimes kids can't. This show, a lot of kids would like to be in the position of the characters, going to PCA. Every fan that comes up to us is always like, where is PCA? I want to go. We're like, no it's not a real school, and they're like, oh man. But they love that feeling of being at a boarding school, you're parents are not around. They want to relate to it. I think it's pretty cool because it allows them to think about the stuff that they could do there. The Star Scoop:
Tell us about your character on Zoey 101, Michael.Massey:
Michael is kind of like a middle man guy. He doesn't really have any enemies. He's pretty much liked by everybody. He's kind of like me in a way. He doesn't like to start anything, but he doesn't want anything to get out of hand. The Star Scoop:
Your brother Kyle, works over at Disney Channel, while you're on Nickelodeon. Any competition?Massey:
No, there's no competition between us, but I think our producers definitely have a little competition going on.The Star Scoop:
Kids ask us all the time how to get on TV. How would you explain the process to them?Massey:
I would just say to get an agent, and go out and audition for things. It definitely doesn't come [easily]. Me and my brother were out here for a while before anything really happened. When we were younger, we did a lot of modeling, and print work. As we got a little older, we were in a mall in Atlanta, and this lady gave my mom a card and it was for her agency. We went in there, kind of auditioned for her, and I just kind of liked it. And then my brother picked it up, and we just kind of liked it and kept going with it. It's definitely all about how much you're willing to do to get it. Stay consistent with your goals. The Star Scoop:
What is the hardest part of your job?Massey:
I would say, the hours. Because, a lot of people say, it's not hard, you don't do much. 10 and a half hours is a long time to work. When you're out in 105 degree weather, and then you're working for 10 and a half hours and you wake up at seven o'clock in the morning...some of the hours are really, really hard, like I'll be filming until 4 o'clock in the morning. The Star Scoop:
How do you find time to be just a normal kid?Massey:
No, not really, because every little chance I get to go back home to Atlanta, that pretty much takes care of that whole thing. When I get back there, I just go back like a normal kid. There are no TV shows to film, no premieres, just going home and sleeping and playing video games. The Star Scoop:
Can you tell us a bit more about you?Massey:
Christopher Massey loves to ride four wheelers and dirt bikes. I do it every single time I go back home. That's one of my favorite things in the world. I'm a big movie person. I love The Sandlot. That used to be my favorite movie when I was little. I love The Green Mile, with Tom Hanks, and I also love The Lion King. The Star Scoop:
What is the atmosphere on Zoey 101 like?Massey:
We're definitely all best friends. We do the craziest things on set. We all have a good time. The Star Scoop:
What would you like to do next?Massey:
That's a good question. I would definitely love to do some type of movie, and also, in the future, to direct and produce. The Star Scoop:
Is there anything you want to say to your fans?Massey:
I would just say to make a goal and stick with it. Ride that goal out until you cannot possibly do it anymore.
