The Star Scoop:
How would you describe your sound?
Jessie James:
I would say it's just what's on the radio right now, pop music with a twang! I write all my own music.
The Star Scoop:
You moved around a lot when you were younger. How would you say it has influenced the music you write?
Jessie James:
I moved around a lot and I think it helped because you meet so many different people and experiences.
The Star Scoop:
There's so many new artists that come out. What sets you apart from others?
Jessie James:
I think I can actually sing. That's what sets me apart. If you hand me a microphone at three in the morning, you know? Not a lot of people right now without help from a lot of controls. I sing; I write my own music.
The Star Scoop:
A lot of people have been saying you sound like Christina Aguilera. Have you heard that? What is your reaction?
Jessie James:
I'm flattered by it! I don't think we sound that much alike. When I'm singing, I'm hearing myself but I totally get where people are coming from and I think it's the greatest compliment ever. I consider her the biggest voice of my generation. She's incredible. It's so flattering.
The Star Scoop:
You album is coming out this summer. What hopes do you have?
Jessie James:
I would love for it to gold the first week. I would love for a bunch of people to go out and buy the album.
The Star Scoop:
You've been working on the album for so long. What has the process been like for you?
Jessie James:
I am only 21, so a lot of people might look at me and say that oh, you didn't have to work that hard, you're young, but it is a long time coming. I've been working toward this for 18 years. I've been turned down by every record label in Nashville. I've heard the word no, I've paid my dues. It's amazing finally to have gotten a record deal two years ago.
The Star Scoop:
Would you ever consider writing songs for other artists?
Jessie James:
Oh, absolutely. I would love to write for other artists. And I have. I'd have songs sold for other artists. It's hard to give songs to other artists that I've written for myself. It's a little different.
The Star Scoop:
What do you want to say directly to your fans?
Jessie James:
It's going to be cliche, but, thank you! I love what I'm doing, and the album comes out on August 11th. I've got a handful of dates [coming], people can go on my myspace.
