Chelsea Makela

TheStarScoop.Com got the scoop from Chelsea Makela on her first big movie role in Dance Flick, what makes her unique, and who she can't wait to work with one day.

The Star Scoop:

Tell us about your role in the Wayans brothers project, Dance Flick.

Chelsea Makela:

I'm a co-lead, I'm playing Tracy. We're going to release it February 2009. It's really exciting. The Wayans produced it, and it's under Paramount. It will be a great film. We're really excited.

The Star Scoop:

What about this movie makes it something people will want to see?

Makela:

It's a spoof comedy on musical movies, and it's stuff that we've all really watched in the past couple of decades. It does everything from Grease and High School Musical to Hairspray. It's everything. I think it's really relatable for a lot of age ranges. It's a great movie, great cast and production. I love it and I really think people will be able to laugh...have fun.

The Star Scoop:

This is one of your first big roles! What have you learned from the experience?

Makela:

This was my first big film, and I was fortunate enough to work with such a supportive and hilarious group of people. The Wayans are incredible people, and I loved, loved learning from them, doing their comedy. It was incredible. It's a blessing to have the chance to work with such a wonderful family and group of people.

The Star Scoop:

How would you introduce yourself to your new fans?

Makela:

I'm very excited to be able to even have fans. So fortunate. I hope people will love the movie. I'm just excited to see where this takes me, where my career goes after this movie. Hopefully I can be able to help different charities and things I'm involved in, and be able to relate to people and people can have fun relating to me and my characters.

The Star Scoop:

What goals do you have for yourself in your career?

Makela:

I'm open to anything that comes, but I would love to work with people obviously like Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, which would be the ultimate accomplishment for me to be able to say I've worked in films alongside some of the greats in Hollywood. So I'm working towards that. I'd love to win an Oscar one day. Just continue in comedy and writing, just really taking advantage of the opportunities I've been fortunate enough to be a part of.

The Star Scoop:

What advice do you have for aspiring actors?

Makela:

Keep going at it. My motto is how I have to let people in Hollywood know I'm here, because there's so many actors in L.A. Getting your name out there and taking advantage of any showcases or casting calls, or acting classes. Just really network and know people. It can happen.

The Star Scoop:

Because Hollywood is so big, and there are so many people, what do you bring to that mix? What's unique about you?

Makela:

I think my versatility from dramatic to comedic acting. I think just the fact that I am 18, but I look like I'm 13 or 14. It's a great age range for me to take advantage of, that I can play younger. Just my personality. Everyone has their own little niches. Just bringing that and who I am, my own aura to the projects I'm on.

The Star Scoop:

Do you want to tell us more about the charities you mentioned earlier?

Makela:

I'm a big supporter of Lou Gehrig's Disease Foundation for research, and finding a cure for ALS, and MS, and also finding cures for cancer and cancer research, and the going green. I encourage people to find a charity that they're passionate, that helps others.
