Antonio Elias

TheStarScoop.Com got the scoop from Antonio Elias about his role as Officer Pitts in the latest hit flick Star Trek and more!

The Star Scoop:

Tell us about your role in Start Trek.

Antionio Elias:

I play Officer Pitts. He is a star fleet officer. It was the night before I actually started filming my dialogue that the crew came by and dropped off my dialogue. That's when I realized the character I had. I figured I'd have one line and die!

The Star Scoop:

Now that the movie is out and doing so well, what is it like to see the impact and the reaction?

Antionio Elias:

Honestly, I'm just grateful I'm able to be part of something and be part of something that has such a positive affect on people. It's entertaining, doing well in the box office. It's shooting all the careers of these actors that are playing the lead characters through the roof. When you're part of something as big as Star Trek, there's a lot of pressure. It has a lot of cultural weight to it. There's a lot at stake. To see such a positive response...it makes me feel good to be a part of something like that.

The Star Scoop:

The movie will attract all the hardcore fans. For those who aren't diehards, do you feel that the movie is accessible to them?

Antionio Elias:

Absolutely. That's what they were going for, too. They wanted to broaden their audience for non Star Trek fans, non die hard Star Trek fans. I was one of them. I was familiar with Star Trek growing up. I saw the films, but I was never a Star Trek fan. Even for me watching the film, they stayed true to what Star Trek is, but they also made it accessible to everybody else watching the film. A lot of my friends are like, I never liked Star Trek, but this movie is awesome. I'm hearing a lot of responses like that.

The Star Scoop:

For people who haven't seen the film yet, why should they?

Antionio Elias:

The movie is a good time. It is a really great experience to see. It's a fun movie to watch. You really get drawn into the characters. The action is awesome. It's just an overall good movie, not looking at it as a Star Trek film. I think they'd be really missing out on something if they don't go see it. There was a lot of passion and real heart behind the making of that film.

The Star Scoop:

Why do you think Hollywood is so caught up in remaking so many things, and reinventing...making the old new again?

Antionio Elias:

I think, a lot of people say Hollywood's really running out of ideas. I don't necessarily think that's true. I think it's a good thing to keep popular franchises going. Giving people what they want to see, hopefully making it better each time around.

The Star Scoop:

Do you have other projects in the works?

Antionio Elias:

Right now, I'm still auditioning. I did a film last year, an independent film that finished post production this past February. Right now they're doing the film festival circuit. It's called Spoken Word. Hopefully, it's slated to come out next year. Maybe it will get picked up before the end of the year. Right now, I'm just still chasing the dream. Star Trek is my first feature film, so hopefully some more positive things will come out of it.
