The Star Scoop:
Can you tell us about your role in Prison Break?
Wade Williams:
My role in Prison Break is playing the man Brad Bellick, who still lives at home with his Momma in this 37th year. He has worked as a prison guard at Fox River Penitentiary since he graduated from High school. For over 20 years he has worked his way to the top as Captain of the Guards. Now he’s bucking for the Warden's job...by hook or crook. Along the way he made some mutually beneficial arrangements with some well heeled prisoners to trade perks for tax free income. But the good life went sour when Scofield and 7 other cons escaped on his watch...he took the fall and was fired from his life long gig. Now, with vengeance running through his veins, he’s making lemon aid, going after the cash he knew the escapees are chasing, saving, nabbing Scofield and sweet revenge for a later undisclosed occasion.
The Star Scoop:
How has your character changed through [the course of] the show?
Williams:
When Bellick lost his long time position and identity as a prison guard it released him from the bonds of the strict prison rules and regulations of prison, and gave him free reigns to use any tactic he chooses to get cash [and] money and the freedom [to] exact vengeance on Scofield in any way he chooses.
The Star Scoop:
How has the success of the show impacted you personally?
Williams:
I get recognized sometimes, but few people will speak to me...I think they're afraid of me because they see me as Bellick. They will speak to my wife though, and ask her "Is that the guy from Prison Break?" even when they find out it's me...they rarely say anything to me…they just snap pictures on their cell phones from a long way away.
The Star Scoop:
If fans want to see you, they need only turn on the TV. To find you in real life, where would we most likely [be in] your free time?
Williams:
They’d find me being with my family or practicing my music. Also, I enjoy working in our garden in LA. We have a Koi pond, chickens, and 30 roses. We also do a great vegetable garden every summer when we're there.
The Star Scoop:
Do you have any other projects in the works or upcoming roles you can discuss?
Williams:
Fortunately, Prison Break is taking up all my time so far!
The Star Scoop:
Why has Prison Break been such a success?
Williams:
I think that Prison Break has been a success because the story of Brothers sacrificing everything for each other is a mythic universal theme. I believe we would all like to imagine ourselves making that kind of sacrifice if someone in our family needed our help. I believe that in Prison Break there is also a chemistry between the writers, actors and producers that is rare and magical.
The Star Scoop:
What would you like to see for your long term future?
Williams:
I would love to continue exploring the man Brad Bellick. The writers are giving me such challenging and diverse situations and story lines to play and discover. I love acting in TV and Film. I also have some interest in writing and directing. We would love to live in an old historic home in a picturesque spot. I imagine continuing to create as an actor, musician, and person. To continue learning and practicing how to be a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.
The Star Scoop:
If your acting career were to fizzle out, what is one thing you could still be thankful was going well for you at this point in your life?
Williams:
My family is healthy and happy, I am alive and healthy, I am surrounded by people who love and care for me...[we've] got food in the fridge and a roof over our heads. To me ..that's the good life.
